Tasked with designing four pavilions and a theatrical portal backdrop, including a café pavilion and a visitor services pavilion, for the Union Square Redevelopment Agency's $26 million renovation project in San Francisco.
The project aimed to transform Union Square into a 21st Century public square that was not only beautiful and secure, but also accessible and well-designed, serving as a focal point for surrounding retail and a tourist destination in the heart of downtown San Francisco.
The renovation also included the renovation of a four-level, 400,000 square foot parking garage beneath the square. The end result was a successful public space that revitalizes this vibrant retail district.
